| Alan Philip Lyme, MSW, LCSW, CAP, ICADC Director, Vortex Counseling and Consulting, North Palm Beach, FL Alan Lyme brings respected and innovative clinical and program management skills to the position of Director of Vortex Counseling and Consulting, Inc. From 2000 to mid-2008, Alan held several positions at the Hanley Center in West Palm Beach. He was Director of Education and Staff Development from 2007-8, For five years he was the director of the Center for Men’s Recovery at Hanley, where he helped create a unique gender specific treatment experience and a pioneering therapeutic environment. Alan was responsible for the overview and implementation of all Hanley Center's education and staff development needs, including continued counselor training and the integration of Clinical Supervision and Motivational Interviewing. He is a highly regarded presenter, and recently co-authored the book, “Men’s Healing: A Toolbox for Life,” with David Powell PhD, and Stephen Andrew, LCSW. Prior to Hanley he held a position as a social worker at Columbia Pavilion, a West Palm Beach inpatient mental health facility. Alan also has experience as a Homeless Coordinator at the West Palm Beach Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. Born in London, England, Alan traveled extensively before settling in Florida in 1983. He worked in the marine industry as a carpenter before pursuing his true calling in the field of social work. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University in 1998 and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Barry University in 1999. Alan is a MINT recognized Motivational Interviewing trainer, a Certified Ropes Facilitator, and Certified Neurofeedback Clinician. |
