Stephen R. Andrew, LCSW, LADC, CCS, Health Education & Training Institute,
25 Middle Street, Portland Maine 04101 Consultant/Trainer &Author maintains
a compassion-focused private practice, where he facilitates a variety of
groups; co-ed, men and caregiver support groups. He also provides
supervision/coaching and support to addiction and health-care providers. He is
the Chief Energizing Officer of Health Education & Training Institute and the
creator of the SpiritWind CD/Tape Series for personal and professional growth.
Stephen has recently co-authored a book “Men’s Healing, Toolbox for LIFE”
with two of his friends;
Allan Lyme LCSW and David Powell Ph.D. He is the “Visionary” of InnerEdge,
an alternative mental health clinic that experiments with the idea that
compassion is the central guiding principle of therapeutic care in working with
people. Stephen is a co-founder of the Men's Resource Center of Southern
Maine. Stephen has served as a social worker at a small college campus. He is
a former Substance Abuse Coordinator for a public school system, former
Executive Director of an adolescent substance abuse prevention and
treatment agency.
He is a member of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of
Trainers (MINT) since 2003 and has completed over 100 hours of training in
Motivational Interviewing. He is a MIA-STEP trainer for the Northeast ATTC.He
presents workshops, coaching and training internationally for social service
agencies, health-care providers, substance abuse counselors, criminal justice
and other groups on motivational interviewing, addiction, co-occurring
disorders, counseling theory, “challenging” adolescents, supervision and
ethics for care professionals, men’s work and the power of group work.
