Motivational Interviewing for Recovery Coaches
These series of workshops for Healthy Acadia will provide online training and coaching in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and help create an internal group of MI competent coaches or “MI champions” within Healthy Acadia. MI Champions help counselors and workers use the evidence-based practice of Motivational Interviewing in their work. The better the staff is at utilizing MI, the better the outcomes will be for Healthy Acadia and the people they serve.
MI Foundations Objectives:
Describe four aspects of the spirit of motivational interviewing into the culture of care.
Practice the ability to respond to people you serve with empathy & compassion.
Identify desire, hopes and needs within a person you serve.
Generate empathy and other skills designed to create ambivalence and to elicit change talk/theory.
Funding for this training initiative is provided through a generous grant from the New England Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network (ATTC).
Stephen is an excellent speaker! He explains things in a way that sticks with you. I would take all my training with Stephen; he is that good!!
This training was extremely insightful and explained how we can do more harm than good even though we think we're doing good.. Not knowing and being vulnerable is better to connect to the other person. It's more important to connect rather than to correct.
My thoughts are. WOW. This should be thought in grade Schools. This is necessary for a better world.
The trainers were extremely natural in the way they brought across the concepts and complemented each others abilities.
