MI: Working with Couples - Conscious Dialogue

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person/couple-centered, evidence-based practice. It is a directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation in each partner in the coupleship by exploring and resolving ambivalence and struggles within the relationship.

Practitioners will also learn ways to establish a therapeutic working alliance for the coupleship, based upon the manual Conscious Dialogue.

This two-day training will discuss how to integrate Motivational Interviewing into ongoing work with couples to increase their empathy and compassion for each other in an effort to heal any of their own past traumas. Participants will have an opportunity to practice and explore their own skills, spirit, and structure for the session.

  • Excellent training! I really enjoyed having both Stephen and Kelley present to give their insights!

  • The engagement of participants was much higher in this training than the other MINT training I did through IFIOC and allowed for more practice. It was a great next step.
