Using Motivational Interviewing to Honor Opiate Users
This special one-day training is an adaptation of our core Motivational Interviewing training with a focus on working with patients or clients affected by the ongoing opiate crisis. Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered, evidence-based, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. After orientation to the underlying spirit, structure, and principles of Motivational Interviewing, practical exercises will help participants strengthen empathy skills, recognize and elicit patient change talk, and roll with resistance.
This training will be co-led by our own fearless leader Stephen Andrew along with other generous colleagues.
This training is a fundraiser for Dignity for Opiate Users with $150 of each workshop fee being directly donated, the remainder being used to cover the costs of putting on the training. The trainers will be donating their time, talents, and expertise as part of their own efforts to address this ongoing crisis.
