John Brelsford, PhD

John Brelsford holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts. He has worked in the field of community mental health services for over 30 years where he held positions as a psychotherapist, house manager, direct care staff, clinical consultant and, for over 24 years, was Director of the Community Reentry Program (CRP) of the Center for Human Development. In this position John was responsible for oversight of the clinical, administrative and supervisory functioning of a program that served 250+ individuals who experienced serious psychiatric and substance abuse disorders and 100+ staff. John was trained as a trainer in Motivational Interviewing in 2008 and has provided MI training to a range of audiences including staff of inpatient psychiatric units, community based service providers for adults with serious psychiatric disorders, providers of services to children with serious emotional disturbances, and peer service providers. He is a member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network Trainers) and is a partner in Collaborative Consultation and Training, which provides training, coaching and consultation in Motivational Interviewing.
